Melanoma Thickness

Age spots?

For the past several months, my mother has had a spot on her leg (high on the calf, not quite next to the knee). Anyhow, she told me that it has grown quite a bit (width ~3/4cm and thickness ~3/4mm) and that it itches. Just today, she told me that several of these spots appeared in areas on her body not exposed to sunlight (groin area & underarm). These spots range from light brown to brown. I looked at the characteristics of melanoma, and unlike melanomas, the spot on her leg is symmetrical with defined borders. According to my mother, the new spots are likewise. Can anybody tell me what this can be?
(Edit: the recent spots fluctuate in color. They are completely flat, and appear to be a light tan color. Once again, they have defined borders and are symmetrical)

sunlight doesn’t always cause these spots, many people get skin cancer in places the sun never goes..and since its grown she should definetly get it checked out by a doctor or dermatologist. in fact, two opinions are usually best. good luck
